Backgrounds

So I'm *real* bad at backgrounds. I've never had much talent creating them from my imagination. People, no problem. Environments, meh. So. When I got to the chapter on environments, I knew I needed to linger here a little longer.

I've been drawing the rooms I see around me. Some are just simple sketches of my classrooms, really rough, done in the margins of class notes. Those I didn't bother scanning in. But here's two that I have scanned. Again, not great by any means. But I will be doing lots more, so I'll probably put some more up if they start looking better.

Oh. And I thought I'd include this, too. I did this... last semester I think? A first attempt at incorperating bgs into my comic.

Transitions

I've been going through Making Comics by Scott McCloud for my comics independent study. Here's a little update on some of the projects I've been doing.

So this exercise (from chapter 1) was supposed to be thus: create a one page comic using only one type of transition. Well, I started, intending to be using Aspect to Aspect. After I finished, I realized the last few turned into Moment to Moment. But I figured, by being able to see that, I understood the concepts of the chapter.

Since this was just an exercise, I didn't ink it or anything. I might want to do that later on, partly because I want to experiment with how to create a nice glow from the lamp using only black and white.
